New School Year

School is about to start and summer is almost over! What cool things will you do before your break ends?
My favorite part about the school year was being able to buy school supplies!

Schools usually give you a list of things you need to bring so that you will be prepared on the first day of school: scissors, pens, pencils, paper, and notebooks. I loved shopping for all of these things!

Each of the items that a teacher puts on their list of necessary school supplies has a purpose. Sometime in the school year, you will need to write a paper, take a test, create an artistic project to understand a concept, or do journal entries.

Did you know that God has a "school supply list" for us as Christians? Or at least He has a hope for us to be prepared for life:

1 Peter 3:15-16 says "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to  everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this  with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander."

God asks us to always be prepared to give an answer to anyone (Christian or not Christian) who asks us to give a reason for the hope that we have.

Do you know why we have hope? We have hope because we know that when we accept Christ as our Savior, we admit that we are sinners, unable to save ourselves from our sin. But we acknowledge that Christ, who has never sinned, took the place for us on the cross, dying the death we should have died, so that we could be free from our sin. We don't have to worry, and we can hope in a world after  this life we have here that we will have complete freedom in  Christ.

That is our hope, and we must learn to prepare ourselves by reading the Word and praying so that we can always have an answer to anyone who asks us about why we have hope!

If you have any questions about what I may have shared, please let me know!

Until next time,

I am Pastor Bui's younger daughter. I am getting my Masters at Johns Hopkins
School of Public Health. I love post-it notes, eating yummy foods, looking out  of windows, and spending time with friends. I am made lovely by a God who loves  me, and hope that all can know His amazing love!
